Kingdom Rush 6: Genesis is a time-travel prequel. After Vez'nan devastates the Kingdom, the hero Gerald Lightseeker is sent backwards in time to the earliest days of Linirea, with the mission of stopping the Dark Wizard before his corruption takes hold. The game's own framing is blunt about the stakes: the kingdom has already fallen, and the only way left is to rewrite history. For how this fits the eight-game series, see the series background page.

The Premise
The premise does something no earlier Kingdom Rush game attempted. Instead of presenting Vez'nan as a villain to be defeated, Genesis goes looking for the moment that turned a young mage into the saga's central antagonist. That is a different kind of story for a tower-defense game, and it is the main reason the prequel framing matters rather than being a marketing label.
Two practical consequences follow. You revisit the original game's lands, the medieval fantasy world of Linirea, at a time when the legends were just beginning. And you recruit younger versions of characters you already know, several of whom appear in the hero roster.
The Three Regions
The campaign spans 18 stages across three regions, each described as a full zone with its own enemies and mechanics rather than a themed group of levels.
| Region | What is known |
|---|---|
| The Citadel | Contains the Linirean Citadel, the game's first stage |
| Stormcloud Depths | Home to the Stormcloud Sorcerers, who appear in the hero Rhodes's backstory |
| Arcania | Contains the Arcane Academy, the institution the hero Zefira left to join Gerald's mission |
Four locations have been named: the Linirean Citadel, Silveroak Village, the Western Wall and the Arcane Academy. The full stage-by-stage list has not been published, and we do not attempt to reconstruct it.
Key Artefacts And Powers
Elynie's Sword. A divine blade capable of rewriting time, which resurfaces as a central object of the plot. Two wizards are said to be willing to do anything to claim it, and its secret is covered in Devlog #24.
The Tear of Elynie. Gerald's mission is specifically to stop Vez'nan from using the Tear of Elynie, which is how the time-travel premise and the sword thread connect.
The Primordials. Devlog #17 describes them in one line: "In the First Age, before kingdoms and before memory, the Primordials shaped the world." They establish the setting's deep history.
Factions of note. The Shadow Order, a group of cloaked raiders introduced in the demo and covered in Devlog #19. The Templars, which the hero Connor joined as a child. And an orc invasion that broke through the Western Wall, which is what pushed Bolin Farslayer into Gerald's army. The enemies page tracks the faction list, and the characters page covers the people in it.
Spoiler Warning
⚠️ The next section covers late-game lore that Ironhide published in devlogs but the game has not yet shown players. If you would rather meet this material in the campaign, stop reading here.
The War That Destroyed The Elves' City
Devlog #20, titled The Time of Loss, describes a war between the Sylvan and the Twilights that destroyed the elves' floating city. Elynie's Sword was lost in that war, which is why it is a discovery rather than a known object in the game's present.
The Blade's Secret
Devlog #24 covers what Elynie's Sword actually is and what it is capable of. This is the payoff of the sword thread, and it is the devlog most worth avoiding if you want the campaign to land properly.
What We Do Not Know
Nobody outside Ironhide has seen the full campaign. The demo covered six stages, which is a third of the game. How the story resolves, whether Vez'nan's turn can actually be prevented within the game's timeline, and what the ending commits to are all unknown. We do not speculate about them.
