Classic Mode is the Kingdom Rush 6: Genesis mode built for series veterans, and one of the five game modes selected per stage. It replaces the modern roster with the four original tower lines from the 2011 game, redrawn from scratch in the Genesis art style, and restricts your spells to Rain of Fire and Reinforcements with one hero instead of two.
It is also the most completely documented system in the game. Every tower name is officially published, which makes it the one roster on this site that can be presented without a single gap.

That is four lines, three tiers each, and two competing level-4 specialities at the end of every line. Choosing between the two specialities is the decision that defines a Classic Mode build.
How Classic Mode Works
- One hero, chosen from the full Genesis roster, rather than the two you field in the campaign.
- Classic tower lines only. None of the fifteen modern towers are available.
- Two spells only. Rain of Fire and Reinforcements. The other seven spells from the main game do not appear.
- All assets rebuilt. Ironhide stated that every Classic Mode element was drawn again for Genesis rather than imported from 2011.
⚠️ Ironhide has not published damage values, gold costs, range figures or the exact composition of these towers in Classic Mode. Any numbers you see for Classic Mode towers elsewhere are either carried over from the original game or invented, and neither is safe to rely on for Genesis.
Why Classic Mode Exists
It was introduced for the franchise's 15th anniversary, which falls in 2026. Ironhide's framing is nostalgic rather than mechanical: the appeal is playing Genesis content with the towers people first learned the series on.
The response was substantial enough that Ironhide described the community reaction to the announcement as "insane", citing nostalgia, memes and a large volume of questions. It is the one part of the game aimed squarely at people who played the original rather than at newcomers.
Classic Mode Is Not A Remake
This distinction matters, because it is the most common misunderstanding about the game. Genesis is not a remake of the 2011 Kingdom Rush. It has an original campaign, new enemy factions, new mechanics and a new story. Classic Mode is an extra mode layered on top, not a reimplementation of the original game, and it does not contain the 2011 campaign's stages.
