The Kingdom Rush 6: Genesis cast is organised around a single relationship: Gerald Lightseeker, sent back through time, and Vez'nan, the young man he has been sent to stop. Almost everyone else in the game is either someone Gerald recruits or someone standing in the way.

Vez'nan
Vez'nan is the franchise's central antagonist, the leader of the Dark Army and King Denas's arch-nemesis. In Genesis he is the target: the game exists to show the moment a young mage became the villain the series has spent fifteen years building around.
His role changes in every game he appears in. He is a hero in Origins, the final boss of the 2011 game, the player character in Vengeance, and an uneasy ally in Kingdom Rush 5: Alliance. The series background page maps that arc in full.
Gerald Lightseeker
Gerald is the protagonist and the reason the story can be a prequel. He survived Vez'nan's attack on the Kingdom and was sent back through time with a specific mission: to prevent the Dark Wizard from using the Tear of Elynie.
He is a returning character from the 2011 game and one of the heroes playable in the demo, alongside Zefira.
The Returning Heroes
Six of the twelve heroes in Genesis are characters from earlier games, most of them from the original 2011 release. Their Genesis backstories are the clearest expression of the prequel idea.
| Character | Backstory in Genesis |
|---|---|
| Gerald Lightseeker | Survived Vez'nan's rampage and was tasked with changing the past |
| Bolin Farslayer | Head of security at the Western Wall until an orc invasion broke through, forcing him into Gerald's army |
| Malik Hammerfury | Freed from the Blood Quarry, travelled to Linirea, and later settled in Hammerhold |
| Ignus | Devoted himself to fire magic until he became the very avatar of flame. In Genesis his human form breaks through only in moments he cannot control |
| Ashbite | A red dragon who bonded with Prince Denas and his army, remaining loyal to the Linirean royal family |
| Oni | A 2011 hero. Our own research is unresolved on whether Oni appears as a hero or an enemy here |
The New Heroes
| Character | Backstory in Genesis |
|---|---|
| Zefira | A sorceress who wields magic as innately as she breathes, and left the academy for Gerald's mission |
| Connor | Joined the Templars young after losing his family, living by the words "born to lose, live to win" |
| Rhodes | An elemental given self-awareness by the Stormcloud Sorcerers, who placed a Sun Gem in its chest |
| Gemina | An illusion mage who fights several enemies simultaneously |
| Drakkan | A living weapon of pure arcane energy, created by mages to stop Vez'nan's army |

Named Non-Playable Characters
Nivus, the Archwizard. Described by Ironhide as slightly unhinged, and found in the Lozagon Tower. Nivus is the only non-playable character Genesis has clearly introduced, and the tower associated with him appears in our towers page as an unclear entry because Ironhide has not said whether it is buildable.
Prince Denas And King Denas
Prince Denas appears in Ashbite's backstory, and King Denas is Vez'nan's long-standing rival across the series. Neither has been confirmed as a character in the Genesis campaign, so we list them as series context rather than cast members.
What We Do Not Know
⚠️ Ironhide has not published a cast list for the campaign, so the number of story characters beyond the playable roster is unknown. Anyone presenting a full Genesis character list is working from the hero roster plus inference.
